Shufflin’ to my shuffle…

So this morning I was not in the best of spirits, but I ended up going on a long run, and I was listening to some preaching by Stephen Armstrong on Colossians during a lot of the time.  It was good for my mind. It would probably have been better if I’d stopped my iPod shuffle at some points and pondered and prayed, but, ah well. Some input is better than none. The upcoming marathon might just be doable, even though I may not be ready based on my skills and performance and lack thereof. I’m most likely not physically ready…but…I’m thinking it might be doable if I take it slow and listen to my shuffle.  It’s not my preference to run this marathon. Registering late will be very expensive, and I might not be physically ready. But months ago I sent out an e-mail to people about it giving them an opportunity to support World Vision. A handful of people supported me. So, I feel obligated. I could try to do the 1/2 instead of the full marathon and e-mail them about that, but I think I’ll just go ahead and try for the full. Might not be able to run the whole thing, but if I shuffle to my shuffle, I might be okay….

Anyway, a couple thoughts that came up in the preaching I heard:

1) The idea of the Bible being a dictionary vs. the idea of dwelling in the Word or letting the Word dwell in our hearts

2) The idea of a temptation freeway and there being an off-ramp

  1. I’m sure that if you contacted your sponsors and pledged to run the 1/2 marathon, they would still be impressed by your faithfullness and commitment. How many people can run 13 miles?

  2. I am certain that everyone who pledged would be happy you chose to only run 13. 26 is hard on a person!

  3. Thanks Aunt Sandy….timing is not good either. I’m gonna be so busy through Tuesday (grades are due then and I have TONS to do), I wonder if I’m getting sick (throat sign), I’m under-prepared, and etcera, etcera. I may wait until Wednesday to attempt a really really long run but we’ll see….thanks for the emotional support. I signed up for the full, but I think I can still change the type of race this weekend before the race if that’s what I decide…

  4. (Sigh) Stubborn girl. I even tried to enlist Steve’s support–I wish you the best on Sunday. Stop early if you need to….On your post–yes, it’s easy to see the Bible as more of a dictionary. But it IS active and ALIVE. It is more than pretty poetry and good ideas!!
