Thanks for your comment...I'm not against written prayer, and I like the idea of writing a prayer for a person for them to keep. Feel a little mixed on the latter, but I like the idea....

I didn't like the idea in the past. But I believe a written prayer can show forethought. Just like a written sermon can show forethought. I don't think a prayer needs to always be a knee jerk, spur of the moment thing. Prayers in the Bible are written for us to see (and we can model after them). The Lord's Prayer is not only written, but written so that we can use those words. I have written out a prayer, to say what I want to say, and read it as a prayer yet again. Anyway, I have changed my own thinking on written prayer!

Glad you liked it...you know, I recommend the speed read/skim style...not for all the time. And with the speed read style things can be missed and not understood, but I read some or all of Isaiah in a way where I didn't seek to fully understand everything, but still I stumbled across a lot of neat things, and it was a neat experience.

thanks Christina...I'm listening to it now. Thanks for introducing me to the song. The phrase "This is our God" is so neat isn't it? Even neater that it's in the Bible :)

There is a song that Chris Tomlin did called "This is Our God".

Every time I hear it, my scalp tingles...

And the same exact sensation comes over me when I hear Isaiah 25:9.

Its captivating...mesmerizing...hope inspiring. Its up there in my favorite verse list with Eagle's Wings and Beauty for Pain (Coincidentally, all found in Isaiah).

Good idea! Write them out and let God's Word over and over be the balm to the soul, that it is. It reaches out to you once; let the same words reach out to you again and again and again. Every time you need those same words, look at them again,(every two minutes if you need to!) like the man in James who keeps looking intently into the perfect law of liberty, and doesn't forget.
Isaiah is amazing, isn't it?

I also believe, as we meditate on God's forgiveness, complete, washing us, moment by moment, that it is then when the Holy Spirit works in us. "Christ came for sinners". He works in the sinner. The one who knows his own sin and is powerless to overcome it on his own. He did not die for the "righteous". We can breathe His forgiveness in deeply, and with that, know that His Spirit THEN works in us both to change our will and to work. Wait quietly, and you will see.

Heb. 6:18

"...in which it is impossible for God to lie, WE WHO HAVE FLED FOR REFUGE might have STRONG encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us."

I like to think of the story of the man forgiving his servant of the HUGE debt. After that, that servant went and threatened another servant who owed HIM a tiny amount, comparatively. Jesus used this to convey how we need to forgive. We "owe" God HUGELY--our using the word "fool" is enough to cast us into hell. He has forgiven us HUGELY. We don't even have a clue how much. So whatever man does to us, in comparison it is short and minor. We must forgive. We may not know why, but we must because He said to. It helps me to think of this comparison, when I cannot be convinced of my need to forgive. Also, I have tried to think of where it says he who is forgiven little, loves little. Conversely, he who is forgiven much, loves much. If I remember I am forgiven much, I love Christ more.
